All the fun, new, and exciting things that comes with pregnancy

So quite honestly I am one of the few lucky women who had yet to have a case of morning sickness! Almost all my friends and family members have had it with at least one if not all their babies. I had no symptoms whatsoever and wouldn't of even known I was pregnant had I not gotten sick with a fever and taken the test. Really the only change I noticed right away was I was more tired. Now that I'm 9 weeks along I find myself having to take a nap once every day and if I don't then I end up going to bed around 8 or 9.

Well I had my first appointment last week on Thursday the 31st. It was just to meet with the nurse to go over my families medical history and to get all my lovely fun packets of information :) The appointment went really well and I really liked my nurse, I found myself wishing she was my Dr. ;) BUT I was referred to Dr. Riley by my primary Dr. My mom works for Sutter and got the inside scoop on Dr. Riley. Apparently she's a really good Dr. but she doesn't really have good bedside manners meaning she's kind of off setting and is not really personal. My mom said that if I have any problems with her that I can change Dr.s w/o any hesitation or problems. I will make my decision after I meet with her this Thursday the 7th. This being my first I kind of want someone who will be personal and just as excited as I am :) The week I found out I saw 3 different Sutter Dr.'s and all of which, even the nurses, were extremely excited for me, seeing as how I was running 102 fever and couldn't exactly show my excitement too well ;) And I liked that :) So I guess we shall see if Riley holds out as my Dr. or not...

Bob has been oh so very helpful, kind, sweet, excited, all the correct emotions I would have hoped for ;) He's going to be such a great dad, I can see it already! We've already decided that the guestroom will be the nursery so that way Bob can keep his office even though he had already started taking things down in preparation, but I told him there's no need and that the guestroom works out better :) He did treat himself to a new little toy, an electric guitar :) He played acoustic back in h/s and I've actually thought about buying him one before but wasn't sure if he'd play it or not. Well he started shopping around for one and fell in love so I just had to let him get it :) So far he's playing mostly worship songs, a couple rock songs, "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, and he said he's even gonna write a new song for the baby, gotta love him ;)

So being the overly excited mother-to-be that I am I went ahead and already made myself a registry like the week I found out ;) Never having actually been a mother but having taken care of children since oh the age of 10 I have a pretty good idea of what I want/need. So far it's all just pretty much neutral stuff until we find out the sex. Either way I don't want to side with too much boy or too much girl stuff seeing as how this is our first and for sure not our last ;) Things like the stroller, car seat, pack-in-play, diaper bag, etc. all are going to be neutral since they're more for us then the baby and that way I can reuse them when we decide to have another :) But I wanted to talk a walk through Babies-R-Us with Bob and show him all the fun, new, and exciting things that comes with parenting :)

This past Sunday the 3rd we had a lot of errands we wanted to run. I normally get up around 6:30, eat breakfast, take my vitamins, and head off to work. Well on Sunday I rolled out of bed around 8:30, had a bowl of cereal and forgot to take my vitamins =/ 10:30 comes around and we're getting ready to leave when I remember to take them. I know you're supposed to take them with food so I ate a banana and grabbed a gatorade on our way out the door. Silly me for not packing snacks, my mistake. First stop was to Chevron to get my oil changed. We walk into the waiting area and I'm smelling some car fresheners and all of the sudden it hits, too many smells all at once I needed to get out of there quick! Prior to that the only smell that made me nauseous was car exhaust :P I got some fresh air and sat down mentally calming myself trying to not get sick. All I kept thinking was, "God I do not want to get sick HERE!" I took small sips of my gatorade and Bob went inside and bought me some crackers. about 15-20 minutes later my car was done and the nauseating feeling had passed. I just knew I needed something solid to eat and fast! Togo's to the rescue ;)

Before Togo's I braved it through Home Depot looking at BBQ's and after lunch we headed to Barns and Noble :) I could have stayed there forever looking at books! I also could have spent $100's of dollars on books that day as well ;) One of the things I want for the baby is a fully stocked library. I loved reading as a kid and still do to this day and I want our child to love reading as well :) I even want to do the nursery either in a favorite children's author theme, a nursery rhyme theme, a fairytale theme, or something a long those lines... After picking up about 20 books or so and putting them back, I walked out with "In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories," "Danny and the Dinosaur," "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," and an Eric Carle baby book that I just fell in love with :) Of course these books are more so for me then the baby but I figured that I'll start a book wishlist that people can go off of for the baby shower. My thoughts are to have every guest bring a new or used children's book to add to the collection :) Plus I have a few friends and family members who will be giving me their books on pregnancy so I figure I'll wait and see what I get before I pick up anything new for myself ;)

After B&N we went to Babies-R-Us and walked around for a good hour showing Bob all the things I was excited to register for ;) He was excited and completely on board with it all. He plans on buying me my glider for the nursery and we'll probably end up buying the bassinet for our room ourselves as well ;) Can't wait to clear out the guestroom to make room for our bundle of joy! So with my first run-in with morning sickness passed, the day/weekend turned out to be a pretty great one :) I switched to taking my vitamins right before bed instead of in the morning and so far so good! After all, only 3 more weeks until I enter into my Second Trimester!
