Pregnancy Ticker

I thought I'd be better at this...

So as you can see it's been a while since my last post. Seven weeks I'm ashamed to say! You would think there would be a lot of changes within those 7 weeks but nope not a lot. Went my whole first trimester without any morning sickness and really only feeling nauseous once :) A couple mild symptoms would be tiredness (I have to take a nap a day now), mild cravings (mostly fruit, chicken, beef, and apple cider), my little baby bump has popped, oh yeah and we did find out the sex! But I'll get to that here in a bit ;)

At 13 weeks I went in for my 2nd trimester appointment and we got to hear the heartbeat! Again, it's one thing to see your baby moving around on the screen but a totally different feeling to hear the heartbeat! It was a healthy 150bpm and we were still right on track :) At 16 weeks was when my tummy seemed to have popped. It was right before work and I just pulled my jeans out of the dryer. Everyone knows that they tighten up after they are washed and dried but it was to the point of where I didn't want to button my jeans! So rather that walk around with them undone all day I slipped into my maternity jeans that only 6 weeks earlier I felt silly for purchasing but at that given time I was glad that I had ;) They are so comfy! Why we fiddle with buttons and zippers I'll never know ;) So I think it's safe to say I can now officially go shopping for a maternity wardrobe!

Now on to the exciting news! Bob and I are expecting a little baby GIRL! I had an appointment with a local sonogram Dr. to find out the sex last Friday (16 weeks and 4 days along). Since day one I had strong girl feelings but all the gender charts said the conception date, last menstrual cycle date, and due date were all pointing to boy! I was still leaning towards girl ;) Then sometime during week 15 it felt like my tummy had dropped! This being my first pregnancy and all I couldn't be sure so I figured maybe the charts were right and we were having a boy! I started to get used to the idea ;) Then even at the ultrasound appointment my Dr. pointed out that I was carrying really low! So right then I thought for sure it was going to be a boy! But nope, Dr. confirmed it's a girl :)

She of course was giving us a hard time and keeping her legs crossed but there were two specific times throughout the appointment that we saw the 3 little dots indicating a girl :) She totally looks like a full blown baby! Technically at 17 weeks she's only the size of a turnip (5" long and 5oz) but looks so much bigger on screen! She did a full on back-bend at one point, yawned, and it even looked like she was sucking her thumb :) The heartbeat is still at a steady and healthy 150bpm and we're still right on track with the due date! Just by measuring her head he could tell me how many weeks and days along I was and when I would be due! He did give me a day difference in the due date, November 6th (my mom's birthday) instead of the 7th ;) Next appointment with my OBGYN is next Tuesday and I have another ultrasound appointment scheduled for 20 weeks!

Not sure on nursery theme yet, but I have some ideas on color schemes ;) I'm worried if I fall in love with anything now it wont be available come November =/ But Bob and I did go out and buy 2 outfits as soon as we found out ;) Names we're tossing around are Sydney Josephine (family name) and Elizabeth Justine. Sydney was my mom's great aunt and she was really pretty :) I've always liked the name Sydney for a girl :) Josephine is my mom's sister's name who passed away when she was just 2. Elizabeth kinda just grew on me. Working in one of the preschools I had a girl named Elizabeth in the class whom I just adored :) She was so shy and made these quirky noises that I just fell in love with :) Then when I asked Bob what names for a girl he liked he said Abigail and Elizabeth! Justine I read once in one of my many Nora Roberts books and fell in love with it. I originally picked the name Isabella Justine but you would not believe how many people I know who've named their kids that! Not to mention Bella from Twilight, I can never look at that name the same again ;) But who knows, it may be until its time to sign the birth certificate before we make a decission, or we could just change our minds all together! For now we're still just enjoying the fact that we will be bringing a little baby girl into the world in just a few short months :) Bob knew it was going to be a girl, she'll for sure be his spoiled little princess ;) He's already said (jokingly of course ;) ) that this one is his and I can have the next ;) And I'm completely thrilled at the idea of him being so thrilled over his little girl :) He's going to be such a great dad!
